It is not the plan of the group to market their site its primary function is in the fulfilment of criterion set down for this module. In the real world of site marketing things are not necessarily as one would think. For many companies the idea of having a website is to take the pressure off of individuals and let the site do all the work in promoting the company.
In the real world business websites need to be promoted just as much as the business itself. There are specialist methods of site promotion and one common way is by getting the site a high ranking on one of the major search engines such as Google or Yahoo. The next stage could be Pay-Per-Click advertising with Google who will promise to promote a site and for every user who clicks on a link through to that site the site owner gets charged for the privilege.
The more obvious way of promoting a website is on all the company's literature and stationary also using flyers, posters, radio commercials etc. getting the website address in prominent locations in an effort to spread the word.
