One time art promoter and critic of Modernist and Abstract Expressionism, Clement Greenberg, defined Modern Art as "the use of characteristic methods of a discipline to criticize the discipline itself".
Some would argue that a website is not art! Yet a body of work that affects both the mind and the senses is considered art and a well conceived and executed web site should do just that.
That being the case if one uses the characteristic methods of website design as a self critique of the work then the resultant body of work should stand as an art form.
